Springtime view of St. George, Utah. Snow Canyon State Park is the red mountain in the back of the picture. The red hills in the right background are the hills that are a backdrop to the downtown area of St. George. In the center you will see the St. George LDS Temple which was built in the 1800's and is the first Mormon Temple dedicated for use east of the Mississippi River. The green found in the trees and lawns in St. George is a stark contrast to the Red Rock (caused by iron oxidizing in the sandstone). In the foreground is St. George Golf Course.
This is a view from the western side of St. George looking north toward Snow Canyon State Park over the top of one of the golf holes at Sunbrook Golf Course (27 hole course). In the center below the red rock cliffs is Entrada Golf Course. Interlaced with the red rock canyons are volcanic cinder cones and once flowing beds of molten lava which have now become rock. To the right in the distance is the beginnings of Pine Valley mountain which rises over 10,000 feet and is covered with Ponderosa Pines.
